Prolific Rockstar actor Robert Bogue may have appeared in the likes of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony, GTA 5, Red Dead Revolver, and Red Dead Redemption, but he won’t be making an appearance in GTA 6 – though not for a lack of trying.
Speaking to a fan through Instagram – since reposted on Twitter, verified by GamesRadar+ – Bogue shares that despite auditioning “for more than 60 roles,” he hasn’t heard back from Rockstar.
“I’m a little disappointed with Rockstar,” he says. “I had an amazing experience working with them before. Some of the producers I worked with are still there, and so are several directors whom I have a great deal of respect for. I really wanted to be part of GTA 6, but they turned me down.

“I must have auditioned for more than 60 roles—some major, some minor. I didn’t care how big the role was; I just wanted to be in the game. I didn’t get any of them, and I never even heard back about a single one. Honestly, that was pretty discouraging.
“At one point, I even started wondering if they had some kind of unofficial policy against bringing back the same actors. Because being rejected that many times and not even landing a small role just didn’t make sense to me.”
Indeed, Rockstar has had mixed fortunes with the actors who have brought its characters to life over the years. How much GTA 4’s Niko Bellic actor Michael Hollick was paid still appears in forum chatter today, and co-founder Dan Houser has previously spoken about a bust-up he had with Burt Reynolds, and so on. That said, things seem to have got better, with other GTA actors making cameo appearances elsewhere in Rockstar’s universe.
While Bogue himself has appeared in a few Rockstar games over the years, the recent experience clearly stings.
“There’s definitely some disappointment and resentment,” he says. “It feels like falling in love with someone, only for them to suddenly leave you. The only things I know about the game are small details I picked up from the script excerpts I read during the auditions.”
As part of verifying the quote for this story, I reached out to Bogue about the quotes, who tells me that rejection is sadly part of the gig, and that what he really wants to get across is how much he enjoyed working with Rockstar over the many years.
As for GTA 6 itself, Rockstar’s next big behemoth is set to release in November, though you can look forward to an extended look at it later this month.
