Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 — Release date, new hero, and more

The next big update in Marvel Rivals will bring Season 5.5. The mid-season update will introduce a new hero and a new map, although we won’t get a new Battle Pass. NetEase has already revealed the release date of the upcoming season, and it’s set to arrive on Friday, December 12. This will be the last major update of 2025, and it will bring a fan-favorite hero.

Before the new season drops, you’ll be able to unlock free Units by celebrating the game’s first birthday. Additionally, the game developer released another event, allowing you to get Psylocke’s Legendary skin for as low as 100 Units.

When does Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 come out?

Season 5.5 of Marvel Rivals will come out on Friday, December 12. The season will bring Rogue, a popular member of X-Men, who is rumored to be a Strategist. Considering the lack of balance in the game, adding another support hero would certainly be a great move on NetEase’s end.

Once the season comes out, you will have to download the update in order to play it. Furthermore, we expect Marvel Rivals servers to be shut down for maintenance for at least two hours. During this downtime period, the game won’t be available on any platform.

We expect to get even more details about Season 5.5 a few days before its release. This includes Rogue and her abilities, which haven’t been revealed yet.

While the big update will bring a new hero and lots of other content, we won’t get a new Battle Pass or rank reset. However, NetEase will likely release a new event, allowing us to unlock more free rewards. This will be the last big update of 2025, as Season 6 is scheduled to come out in mid-January 2026.
