One Marvel Rivals hero has shaped the meta all year

Marvel Rivals recently celebrated its first birthday, marking an impressive milestone. The game has millions of daily active users, and NetEase has added many iconic Marvel characters to it. However, one character is like none other. Peni Parker, one of the OG Vanguards, has dominated the meta the entire year.

Over the past 12 months, the Marvel Rivals developer has added four new tanks. While playing with Emma Frost or Rogue is certainly fun, none of them were able to match Peni’s superiority on the battlefield. When used properly, the OG Vanguard is tough to deal with and is arguably the greatest zone tank in the game.

How Peni Parker dominated the Marvel Rivals meta

Peni Parker’s value comes from her ability to zone out enemies and prevent them from moving to certain spots. Her damage is nowhere near as good as the damage of Thor, Magneto, or Doctor Strange. However, she more than makes up for it with her webs and mines.

Ever since Season 2.5 came out in May, Peni has dominated the meta. In fact, no hero has dethroned her since then. The Vanguard is currently dominating Season 5.5, which is no surprise.

What’s even more interesting is that Peni Parker wasn’t buffed with the release of Season 2.5. In fact, she even lost the Armor Expulsion ability, which was previously available with her team-up with Venom.

Considering that her win rate has been over 59% for more than a month, we can expect NetEase to nerf her soon. With Marvel Rivals Season 6 dropping in January 2026, Peni Parker is almost certain to be on the list of the upcoming balance changes.
